The Domain

My domain was purchased on March 20, 2006 at Cheap-Domainnames for a good price, while my web-space is provided by Surpass Hosting. I chose POTTERITUS to emphasize my obsession with Harry Potter. The "itis" is a craze that you have, some type of "mood" that you just can't shake. ITIS is a slang term used when we eat a big meal and then get very sleepy or when all we want to do is lay about all day and do idle things. I only want to read Harry Potter fanfiction , so I thought it was fitting to call my OBSESSION an itis - spelled with a "U" because "Potteritis" looked weird as hell. So, Potter(itus).net it became.

Site History

The site has a pretty involved history, lol. My first domain was called the-ir [dot] net which stemed from Immortalitas Regnum (my rec site), my first HP website. That was purchased in June 2005. My web space had first been purchased from Exact-Host for a very cheap price, but I had to change to Surpass because they didn't have any support - hence the non-existent site.

Before Immortalitas Regnum . . . The Potter Exchange took it's first breath sometime in April of 2003. I can't remember the exact date. The PE lasted for about 5 months before I became completely bored with it redid the entire site.

Immortalitas Regnum then replaced The PE in October of that same year, in which an Awards section became an added bonus. I wanted something different, a name that was unique and would definitely represent the site's originality. I know what you're thinking: "What Harry Potter site is original nowadays?" Look at it this way, how many slash recommendation sites are there? Not many, trust me, I've looked.

But then I got bored again . . .

I got myself a domain and some space in June of 2005, got rid of the Awards section, and BAM - The IR Network was born. Immortalitas Regnum, which is roughly translated as "The Realm of Immortality" - something I purposely implemented to portray the Latin usage that is so commonly found in HP fanfiction, ended up becaming an extension of the domain and that's how the network came about . . . that is before I changed domains.
